U.S. Gain partners with Core-Mark to bring new GAIN Clean Fuel station to North Carolina

21-May-2015

Sanford, N.C. – GAIN® Clean Fuel, a brand of U.S. Gain announced today that it has completed its third of five CNG stations that will be built in partnership with Core-Mark, one of the nation’s largest distributors and marketers of consumer goods in North America. The easy access, fast-fill GAIN Clean Fuel station located at 2503 Cox Mill Road in Sanford, North Carolina, will be open to all CNG fleets and the public.

“We are encouraged by the progress we continue to make with our partner U.S. Gain,” said Thomas B. Perkins, President and CEO of Core-Mark Holding Company, Inc. “Purchasing more environmentally-friendly and less expensive fuel is an important component of our operational strategy.”

Core-Mark’s commitment to a CNG program began with an initial conversion of its fleet. Today, there are 162 of their CNG tractors on the road with more to come. In addition to the North Carolina location, two more GAIN Clean Fuel stations are expected to open near other Core-Mark Divisions by the second quarter of 2015 in Smyrna, Georgia and Tampa, Florida.

It’s projected that this newest GAIN station will replace the equivalent of 550,000 gallons of diesel fuel in the next year and more than 1.5 million gallons in the next five years. That equates to a greenhouse gas emissions reduction of more than 2,680 tons over five years.

“Our customers recognize both the economic and environmental benefits of CNG,” said Erick Johnson, Business Development Manager for GAIN Clean Fuel. “Even with the recent drop in diesel fuel prices, CNG still provides significant savings. We’re not only meeting a growing need in the industry, but we’re building our national network which allows more fleets to leverage the savings and environmental benefits of CNG.”
