Kenya Partnerships
Our Work in Kenya
More than half of Kenyan school-aged children face significant barriers to accessing basic education due to poverty-related challenges, such as the cost of school fees and uniforms. To address these issues, U.S. Venture and the U.S. Venture/Schmidt Family Foundation collaborate with VICODEC, a school located in Nairobi’s slums, to provide essential services like quality education, nutritious meals, and social support. Together, they are fostering opportunities for lasting change.
Together, We Can
Through sponsorship programs and dedicated funding, VICODEC has become a thriving environment where Kenyan students can flourish. This impact is amplified by a partnership with Kenya Works, a U.S.-based nonprofit operating a child protection center and community development hub near VICODEC. Together, these organizations deliver critical solutions such as feeding programs, shelter, menstrual health initiatives, educational support, and human rights advocacy across Kenya. This powerful collaboration is driving measurable change, improving the lives of Kenyan children and building stronger, healthier communities.

Connecting Communities Through Program Support

Team Member Trips
To deepen the connection between U.S. Venture and our partners in Kenya, we invite team members to experience the impact firsthand. Participants engage in meaningful cultural exchanges—serving meals, visiting the shelter, playing with schoolchildren, sharing music and dance, and exploring local programs in action.

Makini Pad Initiative
The Kenya Works Makini Pad Initiative provides eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads made from high-performance fabric that’s both discreet and reliable. Along with offering pads, the program empowers girls with education on puberty, self-esteem, and health. Made locally at Kenya’s VICODEC, the pads not only improve daily life and the ability to stay in school for these young women but also create sustainable income for the women behind their production.

Feeding Programs
Education is a powerful tool in the fight against poverty, and school feeding programs play a vital role in encouraging parents to send their children to school. This ultimately strengthens children’s connection to their school, and fuel better learning through nutritious meals.
