Some knowledge of how electrical systems work is definitely a valuable skill, but above all, the willingness to learn and take in as much knowledge as you can is the most important thing. Any job will require you to learn new things or adapt to new environments, therefore the ability to learn new concepts quickly is a good skill to have.
