Sustainable solutions that make an impact

As a company we asked what we could be doing to make this world a better place not just today, but for tomorrow and future generations. We looked for areas within our organization to incorporate meaningful sustainability practices.

As we investigated our current initiatives, we realized that we could be doing more. We want to be good stewards of the environment and ensure that sustainability is part of our day-to-day operations as well as long-term strategies.

Social sustainability — Giving back to our communities

We noticed that in our neighborhoods as well as beyond our borders there is a real need for improvement – and we have the passion and the means to help.

• U.S Venture Open – Northeast Wisconsin’s single largest one-day charitable event dedicated entirely to fighting poverty. Event raised more than $3.6 million in 2016.

• Basic Needs Grant – The U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs assists non-profit organizations in Northeast Wisconsin that have a proven track record of establishing or providing nurturing programs that address the root causes of poverty. These programs help individuals and families move out from the confines of poverty and transition into sustainable economic conditions.

• VICODEC – a philanthropic endeavor supported by the U.S. Venture/Schmidt Family Foundation to provide children from the slums in Ongata-Rongai, Kenya with an education, nutrition and medical care to help them grow and succeed in life despite their living conditions.

• Associate volunteer participation – Our Associates believe in giving back to our communities through volunteer efforts and team-driven community improvement.

Economic Sustainability — Building a CNG network across the U.S. and Canada

We will continue to look for ways to strike a balance between economic growth and our quest for sustainable solutions.

• Partnering to build-out a nation-wide network of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations to fuel fleets, trucks and personal vehicles. In doing so, we’ve helped businesses reduce their carbon footprint and over time realize significant fuel cost savings.
