COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE (CEC) SPONSORSHIP REQUEST GUIDELINES

Sponsorships will be awarded from the Community Engagement Committee, a sub-committee of the U.S. Venture/Schmidt Family Foundation (USV/SFF). They will support charitable events, educational opportunities or fundraisers that multiply the impact of U.S. Venture’s support within the community. These events will align with the philanthropic mission of U.S. Venture, Inc. and the USV/SFF.

Range of grantmaking: Sponsorships will not typically exceed $5,000 and no charitable organization will usually receive more than one sponsorship grant per calendar year.

Eligibility: Organizations eligible to receive grants from the Community Engagement Committee are those determined by the IRS to be public charities, preferably those with 501(c)(3) status. The CEC gives a strong consideration to requests within our giving guidelines that show documented support from a U.S. Venture team member or shareholder.       

Activities Funded:

  • Priority will be given to requests that come from U.S. Venture team members or shareholders, particularly from organizations in which they give of their own time, talent or financial support
  • Events that align with the funding priorities listed below
  • Organizations with clarity of mission and a strong focus on effective outcomes
  • Requests will be accepted year-round, but funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those activities that best meet all other guidelines
  • U.S. Venture prefers not to be a sole funder; proof of other support will be expected
    • List of pending and committed sponsors is required
  • Sports-related requests such as team shirts, support for a specific club or camp, trips or equipment where there is a U.S. Venture team member or shareholder supporting the request

Funding Priorities:

  • Health and human services
  • Education and scholarship
  • Community development
  • Environmental
  • Arts and culture

CEC sponsorships typically will NOT fund the following:

  • Grants to individuals or specific families, to underwrite conference expenses, or to fund medical procedures or research
  • Events that occur before funding is awarded or previously incurred expenses
  • Political organizations or causes                 
  • Requests for support from schools or government agencies
  • Annual meetings
  • Religious organizations attempting to build membership or requiring specific religious affiliation for serves rendered.
  • Capital campaigns for schools, religious institutions, sports facilities, and endowments

  • Narrative summarizing your request for support, not to exceed two pages including:
    • The mission of the organization
    • How the request supports the organization’s mission
    • Detailed description of the need for support, including number of people served, geographic location of people served, the proposed project schedule (if applicable)
    • Goals and measures of success
    • The total amount needed and other specific sources of funding to meet that need; include other funder name(s) and amount requested/approved
  • Any information about the event such as an invitation, brochure, agenda or other promotional materials, benefits of sponsorship, if applicable.

Application deadlines:

All materials must be emailed to Foundation@USVenture.com and received by the Foundation no later than 5:00 p.m. on the dates listed below.

Application Process:

Submit completed grant sponsorship application to Foundation@USVenture.com by the deadline posted on the website. Be prepared to share key details about your event including the timeline, target audience, purpose and goals for holding the event if contacted for more information. If approved, it will be expected that you follow up with U.S. Venture to obtain an appropriate logo, if applicable.

No formal final report will be required; however, the Community Engagement Committee would appreciate an update on the success of the event, as well as copies of any promotional materials.
